You must have never heard of Nortosce, a city in Italy with only 2 residents. Even though it’s just the two of them, they still wear masks.

Nortosce is a city located in the province of Perugia, Italy. The name of this small town is far from the hustle and bustle of the global world, because only 2 people live.

Yes, you read that right. There are only 2 people who still live in Nortosce. 2 The residents of Nortosce referred to are Giovanni Carilli (82) and Giampiero Nobili (74).

In times of the Corona pandemic like now, Carilli and Nobili’s compliance with health protocols deserves thumbs up. Even though a city is only inhabited by the two of them and there are no other residents, they still wear masks and keep their distance when they meet each other.

“I am scared to death by the virus. If I am sick, I am alone, who will take care of me?” Carilli said, as quoted by CNN Travel, Friday (23/10/2020).

While Nobili insisted that wearing a mask was a matter of obedience to established rules. It would be disrespectful if one of them ignored the mutually agreed rules.

“Wearing a mask and maintaining distance is not just for health reasons. This is not a matter of good or bad. If there are rules that must be obeyed for the good of yourself and others, then obey them. This is a matter of principle,” Nobili said.

In Nortosce where they live, there are no drugstores, and neither do doctors. If they get sick, they have to go to the nearest town which is quite far from the city where they live.

Of course it is a problem for them. Especially if one of them is positive for the Corona virus. Therefore, they are very obedient to health protocols.

Carlili and Nobili always maintain a distance of at least 1.5 meters every time they meet. Even though in that rown it is only the two of them. It’s because they don’t want to harm each other. What a life principle that we should follow!

In retirement, Carlili and Nobili just want to live quietly in their humble home. Although it is far from the hustle and bustle of big city life, Carlili and Nobili are quite happy to live in Nortosce.

“We live in a very simple way. All we have is air rich with oxygen, peace, silence and healthy mountain water. That’s our way of salvation. Every time I go to a big city, I feel sick. I hate noise,” Carilli said.
