Getting to Know Malaise, One of the Mild Symptoms of Covid-19 Patients

The transmission of the corona virus that causes Covid-19 is still being reported in Indonesia. This disease is caused by the new coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 which has infected 28.9 million people worldwide.

Common signs and symptoms of corona virus infection include acute respiratory problems such as fever, cough and shortness of breath.

Meanwhile, the average incubation period is 5-6 days with the longest incubation period of 14 days.

At least, there are three classifications of Covid-19 symptoms, namely:

• Symptoms are mild

• Moderate symptoms

• Severe symptoms

Quoting the Q&A Regarding the Corona Virus compiled by the Ministry of the Republic of Indonesia, USAID, and Germas, May 2020, one of the mild symptoms of a corona virus infection is Malaise.

This term sounds foreign to the common people, considering that apart from Malaise, other mild symptoms of Covid-19 are quite easy to spot, including:

• Fever more than 38 degrees Celsius

• Cough

• Throat pain

• Nasal congestion

In a recent case report at a nursing home in Washington, nearly a third of the population tested positive for the coronavirus, but half had no symptoms.

And some patients have unusual symptoms such as malaise.

Malaise is a general feeling of discomfort, discomfort, or pain, often the first sign of infection or other illness.

In some cases, Covid-19 can present with symptoms, namely malaise, disorientation, or fatigue.

This is one of the most commonly reported atypical symptoms, often in conjunction with other more commonly reported signs such as cough or fever.

Fatigue, which often accompanies other symptoms, is rarely reported in the absence of more common symptoms.

Additionally, severe confusion or the inability to get out of bed can be warning signs.

And people experiencing these symptoms, especially those with other critical signs such as bluish lips, difficulty breathing, or chest pain, should seek immediate help.

Different from malaise and fatigue

However, there is a different definition between malaise and fatigue.

Fatigue is extreme fatigue, lack of energy, lack of motivation. It’s different from malaise.

Because it is called feeling, it is subjective. Then if someone feels malaise, when should he do a test to detect the presence of the corona virus?

Just looking at his behavior, say in the last two weeks, risk not. For example, rarely wear masks, often hang out, eat close together, hang out together, including traveling by public transportation. A person can measure himself whether he is at risk of contracting Covid-19 or not.

Which must be done…

If you have symptoms of malaise, and your history of behavior in the last two weeks is indeed a high risk, then we recommend taking action immediately. The first thing, which must be done is, resting yourself in their respective homes, be it at home or in a boarding house. Don’t go home.

Regarding the Covid-19 examination cannot be done suddenly, unless you really feel badly sick, such as shortness of breath and must receive treatment at the ER (Emergency Room).
