Government Will Gives Subsidy on Domestic Airplane Tickets Starting Tomorrow

The General Directorate of Air Transportation of the Ministry of Transportation provides stimulus or assistance in the form of subsidized airplane ticket prices for prospective passengers who will take domestic flights from 23 October 2020 to 31 December 2020.

The General Director of Air Transportation of the Ministry of Transportation, Novie Riyanto said that for flight tickets before January 1st, 2021, prospective passengers will be exempted from the Aircraft Passenger Service Fee (PJP2U).

However, the elimination of PJP2U rates is only given for flights made at 13 airports which are the pillars of the tourism sector.

This subsidy is expected not only to stimulate people’s mobility but also to stimulate the aviation, tourism and derivative sectors.

“It is hoped that with a subsidy, the society will get relief with various purposes which will ultimately have a significant impact on economic growth in areas such as the tourism industry, the Small Micro Medium Enterprises (SMME) sector,” he said at an online press conference, Thursday (22/10/2020) as quoted by CNNIndonesia. com.

The thirteen airports that get airline ticket price subsidies are Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, Tangerang (CGK); Hang Nadim International Airport, Batam (BTH); Kualanamu International Airport, Deliserdang (KNO); and I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport, Denpasar, Bali (DPS).

Then, Kulon Progo International Airport, Yogyakarta (YIA); Halim Perdanakusuma International Airport, Jakarta (HLP); Zainuddin Abdul Madjid International Airport, Lombok, Praya (LOP); and Ahmad Yani International Airport, Semarang (SRG).

Also, Sam Ratulangi International Airport, Manado, (MDC); Labuan Bajo International Airport (LBJ); Silangit International Airport, North Tapanuli (DTB); Blimbingsari International Airport, Banyuwangi (BWX); and Adi Sucipto International Airport, Yogjakarta (JOG) .

In total, for the tourism transportation subsidy, the government disbursed a total of IDR 216.55 billion, consisting of exemption from PJP2U tariffs of IDR 175.74 billion and IDR 40.81 billion for flight facilities calibration.

Not only a subsidy for passengers, the government also provided relief to operators at the 13 airports. This means the cost of calibrating flight facilities and aircraft landing aids, which is usually charged to airport operators, for the next two months is borne by the government.

The goal is to ease the burden on airport operational costs due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

“For flight operators and airport operators with the PJP2U subsidy, hopefully it will be good news, with the hope of increasing users of air transportation services. On the other hand, aviation stakeholders are still required to obey SE Director General Number 13 of 2020,” Novie concluded.
