PPKM is Relaxed, Blocking in Jakarta Still Applied

The Indonesian government has extended and relaxed for implementation of PPKM 4th level’s rules in Java and Bali. Even though the rules are relaxed, the public needs to remember that the partition in Jakarta will still apply.

The certainty that the blockade in Jakarta will still be applied got revealed by the Police Grand Commissioner, Directorate of Polda Metro Jaya, Sambodo Purnomo Yogo. “(The blocking) is still (applicable),” said Sambodo on Sunday (July 26, 2021).

Sambodo said that the travel conditions for residents who want to enter Jakarta are still the same. Officers continue to check Worker Registration Certificates (STRP) for non-essential and non-critical workers who enter Jakarta during the PPKM 4th level extension from July 26 to August 2, 2021.

As is known, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has announced PPKM 4th level is extended until early August.

Public markets that sell necessities are allowed to open with strict health protocols.

Meanwhile, public markets that sell other basic needs can operate with a maximum capacity of 50 percent with limited opening hours until 3 pm Western Indonesian Time.

Meanwhile, small businesses such as street vendors are allowed to open with strict health protocols until 9 pm Western Indonesian Time. And the technical regulations are regulated by the regional government.

“Food stalls, street vendors, hawker stalls, and the like that have their place of business in an open space are allowed to open with strict health protocols until 8 pm Western Indonesian Time. And the maximum meal time for each visitor is 20 minutes,” said Jokowi.

Jokowi emphasized that other technical matters related to PPKM 4th level’s relaxation will be explained by the related ministers. Jokowi also stated that the government would increase social assistance’s provision for people affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.
