President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) encourages business actors who open businesses in industrial areas to collaborate with micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and vocational education institutions. This aims to build a synergy of national strength.

“I invite all parties related to industry players, MSME players, and higher education institutions to take advantage of the momentum of industrial estate development as a means of making a leap of progress,” said Jokowi in a video conference, Wednesday (26/8).

Jokowi said that the government is trying to build industrial estates in various regions. One of them is the industrial area along the super corridor north of Java.

“This area has been supported by good logistics, land toll roads that are well connected, sea toll roads, air toll roads, near airports and ports. These are equipped with abundant electricity on the island of Java,” said Jokowi.

Meanwhile, he also asked industry players to provide access to internships for students. Jokowi said that at least the industry must provide opportunities for students to do internships for 1 semester.

“Apart from the infrastructure inside, what is also very important is the access of students to study while studying in industry but not for 1 to 2 weeks, at least 1 semester,” said Jokowi.

Jokowi hopes that the skills and experience of students will increase significantly with access to internships for 1 semester in industry. Thus, human resources (HR) in the country will be of higher quality. “That is the essence of the policy of independent learning, an independent campus, that students are given access and supported to learn from anywhere and to provide knowledge,” Jokowi concluded.
