Throughout 2023, 10 Million More Passengers Are Recorded Using Airplanes

The number of airplane passengers continues to soar after the pandemic. 10.1 million people were recorded at 15 airports managed by AP I during the first two months of 2023. This figure shows a jump of up to 66 percent.

The Main Director of Angkasa Pura I Faik Fahmi explained that AP I had also served 10,121,153 passengers in the first two months of 2023.

“This number has grown by 66 percent compared to the number of passenger movements in the same period last year, with 6,084,055 passenger movements,” said Fahmi in his official statement, Monday (20/3/2023).

Angkasa Pura I Airport with the highest number of passenger movements is I Gusti Ngurah Rai Bali with 2,933,216 movements.

This number consisted of 1,367,817 movements of domestic route passengers, 1,488,929 movements of international route passengers, and 76,470 movements of domestic transit passengers.

Following behind is Juanda Airport in Surabaya with 2,101,995 movements, with details of 1,653,571 domestic route passenger movements, 326,373 international route passenger movements, and 122,051 domestic transit passenger movements.

Furthermore, in third place is Sultan Hasanuddin Makassar Airport with 1,623,556 movements. This figure consists of 1,180,080 domestic route passenger movements, 74,208 international route passenger movements, and 369,268 domestic transit passenger movements.

Meanwhile, for aircraft movements, airports managed by AP I recorded 87,671 movements in the January-February 2023 period.

“This acquisition is up 31 percent compared to the first two months of 2022 with 67,162 movements,” said Fahmi.

I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport in Bali became the airport with the highest number of aircraft movements, namely 20,578 movements, with details of 11,337 aircraft movements on domestic routes and 9,241 aircraft movements on international routes.

In second place is Juanda Airport in Surabaya with 14,794 flights, consisting of 13,041 flights on domestic routes and 1,753 flights on international routes.

Furthermore, Makassar Sultan Hasanuddin Airport recorded 13,122 movements, with details of 12,783 aircraft movements for domestic routes and 339 aircraft movements for international routes.

As for cargo movements, AP I recorded 71,975 tons of cargo served, or a decrease of 3 percent compared to the first two months of 2022 with a total of 74,233 tons of cargo served.

Meanwhile, for cargo traffic for the period January to February 2023, Sentani Jayapura Airport served the highest movement with 19,740 tons of cargo, all of which were domestic cargo.

Following behind is Makassar Sultan Hasanuddin Airport with 12,535 tons of cargo, with details of 12,286 tons of domestic cargo and 249 tons of international cargo.

In third place was Juanda Airport in Surabaya, which recorded 9,912 tons of cargo, with 8,550 tons of domestic cargo and 1,362 tons of international cargo.
