Some of Indonesia’s priority tourist destinations have managed to get investment funds of up to US$ 435.5 million. This proud news was delivered directly by the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy (Parekraf) Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno.

He explained that the development of 5 Super Priority Tourist Destinations (DPSP), namely Lake Toba in North Sumatra, Borobudur in Central Java, Mandalika in West Nusa Tenggara, Labuan Bajo in East Nusa Tenggara, and Likupang in North Sulawesi, continues to be accelerated by the government.

To improve the regional economy to bring in investments that reach hundreds of millions of dollars.

“We should be proud that 5 DPSPs have attracted a total investment of US$435 million,” said Sandiaga Uno at the 5 DPSP Investment Forum, Friday (9/9/2022).

According to Sandiaga, 2022 is a momentum for the revival of the tourism sector in Indonesia. Indonesia’s travel and tourism development index rose to position 32, up 12 places compared to 2019. Above Malaysia, Vietnam, and Thailand for the first time.

The development of 5 DPSPs is assessed by the World Economic Forum as being able to raise Indonesia’s ranking because it prioritizes government policies. Namely, creating a new destination other than Bali.

“Thus creating an even distribution of the economy and maximizing tourism resources in Indonesia,” he said.

In addition, he also hopes that the status of the Tourism Authority Agency will change to a Tourism Special Economic Zone (SEZ) so that it can attract more investment.

“So that the movement is faster and more agile to attract more investment so that the development of 5 DPSPs can be accelerated,” he said.

Furthermore, Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan said Indonesia’s position in tourism development was better. Now Indonesia’s tourism position has beaten Thailand and Malaysia.

This was conveyed by Luhut in the Investment Forum 5 Super Priority Tourism Destinations held by the Ministry of Investment/BKPM in Labuan Bajo, East Nusa Tenggara.

“We should be grateful that the travel and tourism development index score rose from 4.2 to 4.4, rose to rank 32 from 44. This is the first time Indonesia is ahead of Thailand and Malaysia. We hope to strengthen Indonesia’s position with investors investing their capital,” said Luhut, Friday. (9/9/2022).
