Yasonna Laoly, the Minister of Law and Human Rights (Menkumham) has officially expanded restrictions on foreigners entering Indonesian territory, which is regarding foreign workers restrictions to Indonesia.
The expansion of foreign workers restriction was contained in the Minister of Law and Human Rights Regulation (Permenkumham) Number 27 of 2021 concerning Restrictions on Foreigners Entering Indonesian Territory during the Enforcement Period of Emergency Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM Emergency) was officially enforced on July 21, 2021.
“In Permenkumham Number 27 of 2021, foreigners may enter Indonesian territory is only diplomatic and service visas holders, diplomatic and official residence permits holders, limited stay and permanent residence permits holders, foreigners with health and humanitarian purposes, and transportation’s crew who come with their transportation’s means,” Yasonna said, on Wednesday (July 21, 2021).
Thus, foreign workers who previously came to Indonesia as part of a national strategic project can no longer enter the country. This decision to reduce the Covid-19 case.
The Minister of Law and Human Rights has just inaugurated a substitute for Permenkumham Number 26 of 2020 concerning Visas and Stay Permits in the Adaptation Period of New Normal.
In addition, Yasonna said that foreigners classified as exceptions to the Permenkumham also need recommendations from relevant ministries/agencies to enter Indonesia.
Recommendations from relevant ministries/institutions are needed. For example, coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs if there are diplomats who want to enter Indonesia to do their duties.
Foreigners who have purposes for health and humanitarian duties as referred in Permenkumham Number 27 of 2021 must obtain a recommendation from the ministry or institution that carries out the function of handling Covid-19.
