ASDP Ferry Port Is Crowded with Passengers after the Mandalika MotoGP Event

The stretching of the economy and tourism in Indonesia can be felt now. Recently, due to the Mandalika MotoGP racing event, the Ferry Port owned by PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry Branch Lembar said there was a density of crossing traffic on the Padangbai-Lembar track which connects Bali Island with Lombok during the 2022 Mandalika MotoGP event.

This was conveyed by the Corporate Secretary of PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry (Persero) Shelvy Arifin. He said the traffic density at the ferry port had started on February 15, 2022.

Then the peak of the return flow was also recorded until March 20, 2022. Thus there were a total of 26,000 passengers, 6 468 motorcycles, 2,702 private vehicles, and 699 buses crossing Bali-Lombok during the period 15 – 20 March 2022.

“The crossing service on the Padangbai-Lembar track experienced a significant upward trend starting from March 15 – 20 2022 during the Mandalika MotoGP international event in Lombok, NTB,” he said in an official statement, Tuesday (23/2/2022).

Based on the data he has, MotoGP viewers who pass through the port come from domestic and foreign tourists.

26 ferries are serving the Lembar-Padangbai crossing, including two ASDP vessels, KMP Rodhita and KMP Port Kink II. Sheet Harbor has a capacity of 300 people and parking for 250 vehicles. On the other hand, the capacity of Padangbai Port can accommodate 300 people and parking for 200 vehicles.

The trend of passenger movements from Java, Bali, Sumbawa, and other areas began to crowd the ports, both in Padangbai, Kayangan-Pototano, and Ketapang which will go to Lombok since March 15, 2022. Meanwhile, the peak of backflow from Lembar Harbor to Padangbai, Bali occurred on Sunday (20/3/2022).

Shelvy said that since Sunday (20/3/2022) at 19.00 WITA, the movement of passengers after watching the MotoGP began to crowd the Sheet Harbor which will cross to Bali. Until Monday (21/3/2022) early morning, passengers and vehicles continued to flow.

At the time of the Mandalika MotoGP, ASDP enforced a very dense service pattern by maximizing the operation of 26 vessels and shortening service time at the pier to only 20 minutes.

Not only that, but ASDP also carries out intensive coordination with BPTD and other relevant agencies for smooth operations and services.
