The Bali Regional Police (Polda) are ready to use 300 electric motors for security activities at the peak of the G20 Indonesia Summit next month. This figure is a form of Bali Police’s support for the G20 member countries’ commitment to the energy transition.

“We received assistance (electric motorbikes) in collaboration with Lazada and Smoot 100 units (electric motorbikes), previously there were other parties who supported us with 200 units. Altogether there were 300 units,” said Bali Regional Police Chief Inspector General Pol. Putu Jayaan Danu Putra when met on the sidelines of the delivery of electric motorbikes from Lazada and Smoot for the G20 Summit in Badung, Bali, Tuesday.

He said that the electric motorcycle uses a battery swap charging system, the facilities of which are currently available at hundreds of points in Bali, especially in Badung and Denpasar.

“So, we don’t have to wait long, just change the battery at a certain place and we can go (ride) again,” he said.

The peak of the G20 Indonesia Summit will be held in Nusa Dua, Badung, Bali, from 15 to 16 November 2022.

On the same occasion, Inspector General Pol. Putu Jayan appreciated the assistance from the private sector to the Bali Police to secure the activities of the G20 Summit.

“This is part of the collaboration between businessmen and us for the security element,” said the Kapolda.

He hopes that the hundreds of electric motorcycles, which are currently on loan, can be given to the Bali Police for security operations after the G20 Summit.

At the delivery location for electric vehicles at Lazada Logistics in Badung, Tuesday, Lazada Indonesia Chief Logistics Officer Phillipe Auberger said that his party was considering the Bali Police’s request.

“We are lending this electric motorbike for free. We will discuss later (with the Bali Police) the possibility of placing this electric motorbike for a long time,” Auberger said when answering ANTARA’s question.

So far, there are 616 electric vehicles for the G20 Summit in Nusa Dua, Badung, Bali. Of that number, 493 cars were for the delegates, while 123 were electric vehicles for security and operations.

Not only that, as many as 290 units of electric motors will be used by patrol and escort police during the G20 Summit activities.

In order to support the use of electric vehicles during the G20 Summit, PLN has prepared ultra-fast charging public electric vehicle charging stations (SPKLU), and other charging stations scattered at the G20 Summit locations, namely at The Apurva Kempinski and at the delegates’ places to stay in Nusa Dua. as well as at Central Parking ITDC Nusa Dua.

“We have prepared SPKLU infrastructure, namely 70 SPKLU ultra-fast charging units, as many as 66 units are installed and 4 spare units, then 200 home charging units, and 21 SPKLU fast charging units spread throughout Bali,” said PLN President Director Darmawan Prasodjo Bali, mid-August 2022.
