Bike Paths in Jakarta Are Now Getting Longer

As an effort to improve public health and reduce air pollution, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government has again added to the availability of special bicycle lanes. The bike path will be added along 195 km this year.

“The current total (bike paths) is 114.5 km, this year we will add 195 km. So we have approximately 309.5 km,” said Head of the Transportation Service, Syafrin Liputo to reporters in Jakarta, quoted from his official statement, Wednesday (31/8/). 2022).

Furthermore, the provincial government has also prepared bicycle-sharing facilities where residents can meet at 63 parking locations.

This effort is referred to as referring to Governor Regulation Number 128 of 2019 concerning the Provision of Bicycle Lanes regarding bicycle lanes, markings, signs, and equipment.

The budget for the construction of the 195 km bicycle path is known to be worth Rp. 119 billion for 20 locations. Previously, the provincial government had added a 103.km bicycle lane supply.

It is known, that since the Covid-19 pandemic, the use of bicycles in the community has increased by 1000 percent as a sport and recreation for the daily activities of Jakarta residents. Quoted from the official website of the Jakarta Transportation Agency, there are 20 locations for bicycle lanes on Jakarta roads.

  7. MT Haryono-Palmerah : 15.4 kilometers
  8. Dr. Sahardjo-Dr. Supomo : 8.4 kilometers
  9. Kebayoran Baru Extension : 8.7 kilometers
  10. Pattimura-Iskandarsyah Raya : 3.7 kilometers
  11. Pejompongan Galunggung : 10.6 kilometers
  12. Pioneer of Independence-Simpang Senen : 25.5 kilometers
  13. S. Parman: 8.5 kilometers
