The achievement of the third booster vaccination in Indonesia in recent months has decreased. The head of the Covid-19 Task Force for the Indonesian Doctors Association (IDI) Erlina Burhan explained that the current shortage of vaccine center outlets in Indonesia is the main reason for the decline.

According to her, the wide availability of vaccine outlets in various regions is a reminder for the public about the importance of the third dose of vaccination in reducing the risk of transmission of the Corona Virus.

“I don’t know exactly why the booster coverage is not as fast as the primary vaccine, but the lack of vaccination centers is also a problem. The distribution is not as wide as it used to be. Previously it was everywhere. Now it has decreased,” said Erlina at the activity ‘The Importance of Booster Vaccination in Protecting the Community from the Serious Consequences of Covid-19 Disease including Hospitalization and Death’, Thursday (15/9/2022).

According to Erlina, although Indonesia has recorded a decrease in daily Covid-19 cases, the pandemic condition is still very dynamic. It is uncertain when the pandemic will end and its existence can be revoked.

She asked all elements of society and the government to collaborate again in increasing the coverage of booster vaccinations in Indonesia and controlling Covid-19.

According to her, the collaboration that has been carried out by the two parties has proven that Indonesia is one of the countries with good virus control efforts.

She also emphasized that various types of Covid-19 vaccines used in Indonesia are still proven to be effective for increasing antibodies and protecting themselves from Corona Virus infection.

Thus, the provision of new types of vaccines in Indonesia is still not needed, she said.

“It’s not really an emergency to have a new vaccine. Don’t worry, until now the available vaccines can still protect,” explained Erlina.

The Covid-19 Task Force has recorded a decline in the Covid-19 vaccination rate since May 2022. A spokesperson for the Covid-19 Task Force, Wiku Adisasmito, said that the number of vaccine recipients in August 2022 was even reduced by almost 50 percent from the number of recipients in May 2022.

The Covid-19 Task Force continues to urge local governments to immediately find the cause of the decline in vaccination rates in Indonesia, and report them to the central government.
