Citilink will Fly the First Banyuwangi-Denpasar Route Starting Tomorrow

Flight connectivity to Banyuwangi will soon increase. The national airline Citilink will fly the first Banyuwangi-Denpasar route.

The return flight from Banyuwangi Airport (BWX) to Ngurah Rai Airport (DPS) will be scheduled every day. The first flight will be held on August 28, 2020 tomorrow. The route will be served with ATR 72-600 aircraft by Citilink airline. This route also connects to Lombok.

Banyuwangi Regent Abdullah Azwar Anas warmly welcomed the opening of this new route, especially since Bali is a very well-known national tourism destination. Anas hopes that the opening of the route to Bali amidst the current hardship of the tourism sector will have a positive impact on Banyuwangi.

“We are very pleased that Banyuwangi can connect with Bali as a national tourism center. We hope this will have an impact on improving the local economy,” Anas told detikcom, Wednesday (26/8/2020).

The opening of this flight route, said Anas, will have an impact on regional tourism. For this reason, Anas hopes that all tourism actors will not forget and continue to be disciplined in carrying out strict health protocols.

“Mobile tourism must remain vigilant about COVID-19. Not only do airports have strict health protocols, but tourists and tour operators must be reminded to be disciplined in the covid health protocol,” said Anas.

The policy to encourage the reopening of the Banyuwangi-Bali PP flight route was inseparable from a decision in a coordination meeting chaired by the Coordinating Minister for Maritime and Investment (Maves) Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan some time ago. On this occasion Luhut instructed the Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) to immediately reopen the Banyuwangi-Denpasar PP flight route.

According to Luhut, the Banyuwangi-Denpasar route will greatly affect the development of tourism in the era of adaptation to new habits (new normal).

“This flight route will greatly support tourism development. Not only for Banyuwangi, but also for Indonesia in general,” he said.

Meanwhile, District Sales Manager of Citilink Banyuwangi, Dadang Teguh Setiawan, said that the first flight of the Banyuwangi-Bali PP route will take place on August 28 tomorrow.

“We hope this can leverage the tourism sectors of the two regions. We hope this route will be as attractive to passengers as it used to be. Hopefully it will be carried out,” said Dadang.

For the Denpasar-Banyuwangi PP route, Citilink will fly every day on an ATR 72-600 aircraft with a capacity of 72 seats. Dadang added that the schedule for Banyuwangi-Denpasar is 07.35 WIB-09.15 WITa and from Denpasar-Banyuwangi: 12.55 WITA-12.45 WIB. “This plane route actually connects a number of cities. Starting from Surabaya, then flying to Banyuwangi, continuing to Denpasar, then to Lombok, and the route is PP. So, actually passengers from Banyuwangi can go to Lombok and vice versa,” Dadang concluded.
