Indonesia’s economy continues to show good growth. For this reason, when speaking at the 2023 World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland, the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment, Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, reminded friendly countries not to disturb Indonesia’s economic growth.
Luhut said that Indonesia is very open to all suggestions and proposals from friendly countries. However, he warned not to disrupt the Indonesian economy.
“However, one thing that you must pay attention to is never disrupting Indonesia’s economic growth. Creating broad job opportunities for the Indonesian people is absolute and I’m sure other ASEAN countries share the same opinion,” he said at the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland, as quoted in an official upload on Instagram, Thursday ( 19/1/2023).
Luhut said, like the holding of the 2022 G20 Summit in Bali, at first many were pessimistic about the holding and the results.
However, he said Indonesia managed to turn this stigma into an extraordinary success.
However, Luhut sees that there are still many challenges in holding the 2023 Asean Summit, considering that each ASEAN member country has its national interests.
Furthermore, Luhut said that although the situation in Ukraine is still uncertain, Indonesia with a population of 282 million people can still overcome the global economic turmoil. This is evidenced by the economic growth of 5.3 percent and exports worth US$293 billion in 2022, bigger than in 2021 which was only US$232 billion.
“Not to mention the US$71 billion bilateral investment commitment that Indonesia received from the 2022 G20 Summit, including the US$20 billion Just Energy Transition Partnership (JETP). This has further increased trust both domestically and internationally,” he said.
