The government’s policy of relaxing PPKM regulations has resulted in dozens of hotels in Bali being sold throughout 2022. Most of the hotels sold are in the Badung Regency area, Bali which includes the Sunset Road, Seminyak, and Legian areas.
Arebi Bali Chairperson Michael Hikma Gunawan said that when PPKM was loosened, many hotels were sold by their owners. He estimates dozens of hotels and dozens of villas have already been sold.
Of the dozens of hotels being sold, most are three-star hotels and the average price offered is IDR 50 billion.
Meanwhile, tens of villa units sold cost around IDR 3.5 billion to IDR 7 billion. Like hotels, the most sold villas are in Badung Regency, Bali.
According to Michael, many hotel and villa buyers in Bali come from the domestic market or Indonesian citizens who want to own property in Bali.
The property market had died at the start of the Covid-19 pandemic. Economic difficulties were the reason for the absence of any buyers interested in owning property in Bali at that time.
In addition, the owner chose to let go of the hotel so as not to be burdened with high hotel operations. Moreover, many employees have been laid off.
Furthermore, one of the five-star hotels of The Mulia, Mulia Resort & Villas, Nusa Dua, Bali is being sold. The hotel sales information is listed on the Lamudi buying and selling website.
The hotel, which is located on Jalan Raya Nusa Dua Selatan, Badung Regency, is being sold for IDR 9 trillion. The Lamudi website states that the hotel being sold has a land area of 32 hectares, 526 rooms, and 108 villas. The hotel also has six swimming pools and nine restaurants.
A sales agent at Lamudi, Hendri Wijoyo, confirmed that The Mulia, Mulia Resort & Villas was being sold at IDR 9 trillion.
Hendri claims that even though the selling price of the hotel reaches IDR 9 trillion, there are quite a lot of enthusiasts. However, he could not reveal the names of potential buyers of the luxury hotel.
Previously, Bali Deputy Governor (Wagub) Tjokorda Oka Artha Ardhana Sukawati commented on the issue that several hotels in Bali were being sold even though tourism was recovering.
“If I say a lot, actually there have been hotels for sale from the beginning and even before COVID-19 there were. In fact, there are those whose hobbies are selling hotels, so we don’t need to think about that,” said the man who is familiarly called Cok Ace.
He ensured that the central and provincial governments continued to work hard in reviving Bali tourism. He also hopes that tourism actors on the Island of the Gods can be patient until finally Bali can recover to the way it was before the pandemic.
