Amidst the bustling city life of Jakarta, Gambir Station stands as a vital hub for travelers, especially during the long Eid al-Fitr holidays. Recognizing the importance of providing adequate facilities, Kereta Api Pariwisata (KAI Tourism) has unveiled its latest amenities, catering to the needs of passengers passing through this bustling station.
One of the notable additions is the introduction of Shower & Locker facilities, offering convenience to travelers at affordable rates. With prices starting at Rp. 50.00, passengers can now access shower facilities and storage lockers, providing a refreshing break during their journey.
Hendy Helmy, the CEO of KAI Tourism, highlighted the significance of these facilities, stating, “Currently, KAI Tourism operates Shower & Locker in two locations, namely at Gambir Station in Jakarta and Selasar Malioboro in Yogyakarta.”
Located conveniently on the first floor of the South Gate of Gambir Station, the Shower & Locker facilities are easily accessible to all travelers, including prospective train passengers and visitors alike.
The tariffs for utilizing these facilities range from Rp 50,000 to Rp 70,000 for showers and Rp 10,000 to Rp 140,000 for lockers, depending on the duration and size chosen by the traveler. Additionally, amenities such as towels, soap, and shampoo are provided, along with WiFi and air conditioning for added comfort.
In response to the growing demand for such services, KAI Tourism plans to expand these facilities to other key locations across Java Island, including Pasar Senen Station in Jakarta and Gubeng Station in Surabaya.
Hendy expressed their commitment, stating, “We are currently constructing facilities at Pasar Senen Station in Jakarta and at Gubeng Station in Surabaya.”

Meanwhile, amidst the holiday rush, Gambir Station witnessed a significant influx of travelers returning to Jakarta. According to PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) or KAI, a total of 15,000 travelers arrived via Gambir Station on the peak day of the Eid al-Fitr return flow.
Ixfan Hendriwintoko, the Public Relations Manager of KAI Daop 1 Jakarta, provided insights, stating, “In total, there were 47,613 passengers arriving at stations in the Daop 1 Jakarta area today.”
The majority of these passengers hailed from various cities such as Yogyakarta, Surabaya, Semarang, Solo, Purwokerto, Kutoarjo, and Malang, reflecting the diverse travel routes serviced by Gambir Station.
As the holiday season continues, Gambir Station remains a bustling hub of activity, serving as a gateway for travelers across the archipelago. With the introduction of new facilities and ongoing efforts to enhance passenger experience, it continues to uphold its reputation as a vital transportation hub in the heart of Jakarta.
