Latest Update on Quarantine Rules: Government Cuts Quarantine to 3 Days. Read the explanation!

The government has updated the rules regarding quarantine when entering Indonesian territory. After previously on February 16, the three-day quarantine provision only applies to those who have been vaccinated with the booster or the third dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.

Now, based on the SE Task Force Number 9 of 2022 concerning Health Protocols for Overseas Travel during the COVID-19 Pandemic, those who have been vaccinated against COVID-19 in two doses can only undergo quarantine for three days.

Some of the rules that must be met are:

  1. Quarantine for 7×24 hours for PPLN who have received the first dose of vaccine.
  2. Quarantine for 3×24 hours for PPLN who have received the second or third dose of vaccine
  3. For overseas travelers (PPLN) under 18 years of age and requiring special protection, the duration of quarantine follows the provisions imposed on their parents or caregivers/travel companions.

Upon arrival in the country, PPLN must show a negative COVID-19 test result within a maximum of 2×24 hours before departure and attach it to the Indonesian International Health Check or e-HAC.

Trial to Enter Indonesia Without Quarantine

After cutting the quarantine time to just three days, the government is also preparing a trial to enter Indonesia without quarantine. The plan is that the trial will begin on March 14, 2022. The area that will be used as an entry point without quarantine is Bali.

If the implementation goes well, the target is that the implementation of quarantine-free entry into Indonesia can take effect from April 1, 2022. This is also with due regard to the situation of the COVID-19 pandemic going forward.

“If the trial in Bali improves, we will expand the no-quarantine policy throughout Indonesia from April 1 or earlier than April 1, 2022,” explained Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment (Menko Marvel) Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan some time ago.

Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan explained the mechanism for entering Bali without quarantine. PPLN must have been vaccinated in three stages or have been vaccinated with a booster. Furthermore, they will be tested by PCR to determine the condition of exposure to the virus.

“PPLN who come must show proof of hotel payment that has been paid for at least 4 days or show proof of domicile in Bali for Indonesian citizens. Incoming PPLN must have been fully vaccinated or booster. PPLN performs PCR tests and waits in hotel rooms until negative test results come out,” Luhut explained.

“After being negative, PPLN can move freely with health protocols still being applied. PPLN will again carry out a PCR test on the third day at their respective hotels. This is for our mutual safety,” he continued.
