Government Officially Issues 7 New Money 2022

The government, through Bank Indonesia, officially launched 7 new banknotes in the 2022 edition. The design of this new note looks new and fresh. The launch of the new money was carried out by the Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani Indrawati and the Governor of the Central Bank Perry Warjiyo.

The seven TE 2022 denominations are officially valid, issued, and circulated in the territory of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI) to coincide with the 77th Anniversary of Indonesian Independence, August 17, 2022.

The Year of Issue (TE) 2022 notes consist of banknotes of IDR 100,000, IDR 50,000, IDR 20,000, IDR 10,000, IDR 5,000, IDR 2000, and IDR 1000, with a visual analysis of each denomination of the 2022 TE Money.

The 2022 TE Money retains the main image of national heroes on the front, as well as Indonesian cultural themes (images of dances, natural landscapes, and flora) on the back as the 2016 TE Money.

BI Governor Perry Warjiyo said that the launch of the rupiah was a tangible manifestation of a shared commitment to providing a quality and trusted currency to the public.

“I invite all components to love, be proud, and understand the rupiah. Let’s continue to ignite optimism, the spirit of nationalism, and a commitment to recover faster, and rise stronger towards an advanced Indonesia,” said Perry.

Furthermore, there are three aspects of innovation to strengthen the 2022 TE Currency, namely a sharper color design, a more reliable security element, and better resistance to currency materials.

The innovation is intended to make the Rupiah currency easier to recognize for its authenticity, comfortable, and safe to use, and more difficult to counterfeit so that the Rupiah currency is more qualified and reliable and becomes a common pride as a symbol of the sovereignty of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia.

The issuance and circulation of the 2022 TE Money are one of the implementations of the mandate of the Currency Law as part of the planning to meet the people’s money needs in 2022 while still implementing good governance according to the Act.

Meanwhile, Sri Mulyani said that the rupiah sheets contained various stories and narratives about the nationality of the Indonesian nation. Rupiah itself is the only legal tender in Indonesia, Sri Mulyani added, that rupiah should be respected and proud of.

“Rupiah is not just a currency, it is a currency that describes the journey of the Republic of Indonesia. On October 30, 1946. The Indonesian Rupiah was born and valid. At that time, it was conveyed by the Vice President of Indonesia, Mohammad Hatta,” She explained.
