An important announcement has been made for residents of DKI Jakarta who have yet to undergo emissions testing. The Jakarta Provincial Government is set to introduce a significant change in the form of a maximum parking fee for vehicles that have not undergone emissions testing or have failed to pass it. This new regulation is scheduled to come into effect on October 1, 2023.
For vehicles with four wheels, there will be a parking fee of Rp 7,500 per hour. This fee structure may vary progressively at different parking locations managed by the Jakarta Provincial Government. However, at designated Park and Ride locations, four-wheeled vehicles will be subject to a flat parking fee of Rp 7,500 per entry.
The spokesperson for the Air Pollution Control Task Force of the Jakarta Provincial Government, Ani Ruspitawati, disclosed that this policy will be implemented at a substantial 131 parking locations, which is a notable increase from the initially planned 10 locations.
“Commencing from October 1, 2023, all locations managed by Pasar Jaya, totaling 131 parking spots, will adopt this parking disincentive for vehicles that haven’t passed emissions testing,” Ani stated in her official communication on Thursday, September 21, 2023.
She added, “In total, these 131 parking spots will actively implement parking disincentives. We are hopeful that this proactive approach will encourage greater community participation in emissions testing.”
It’s worth noting that the Jakarta Provincial Government had already enforced the maximum parking fee at 10 locations previously. These 10 locations include prominent spots like IRT Monas, the parking area at Blok M Square, the parking zone at the Samsat Jakbar office, the parking area at Pasar Mayestik, Park & Ride Kalideres, the parking facility at Taman Menteng, the parking facility at Istana Pasar Baru, Park & Ride Lebak Bulus, Park & Ride Kampung Rambutan, and the parking zone at Taman Ismail Marzuki.
Furthermore, there will be an impressive addition of 121 parking locations, all managed by Perumda Pasar Jaya, in October, bringing the total number of affected parking spots to 131.
Ani emphasized that the Jakarta Provincial Government remains committed to expanding the network of workshops where emissions testing can be carried out. Presently, there are 333 workshops available for testing four-wheeled vehicles, with an additional 108 for two-wheeled vehicles.
“Additional technicians have been trained to accommodate the growing demand, and PT ASTRA continues to support emissions testing by providing workshops at 45 locations, with plans to expand this service to 12 new locations,” she informed.
To ensure accessibility for the public, emissions testing for private vehicles will be extended to conveniently located terminals such as Kampung Rambutan, Pulo Gadung, Kalideres, Pulo Gebang, and Tanjung Priok.
