Indonesia Earns Green Productivity Specialist Certification from APO-GPS 201

Indonesia Needs US$ 1 Trillion to Become a Green Country

Indonesia has recently been awarded the APO-GPS 201 certification for Green Productivity Specialist, beating out 20 other member countries of the Asian Productivity Organization (APO). The certification recognizes Indonesia as a specialist and assessor in the field of environmentally friendly production.

The country’s success in obtaining this Green Productivity Specialist certification is seen as a significant achievement in terms of improving national productivity while also promoting environmental preservation.

According to Minister of Manpower Ida Fauziyah, Green Productivity (GP) is believed to be an effective means of boosting national productivity while also aligning with efforts to preserve the environment.

GP is a step in the right direction to reduce all forms of energy wastage and promote the use of renewable energy, as well as implement green jobs, particularly in the government sector.

“This is an extraordinary vote of confidence from the APO Accreditation Body (AB) in Indonesia’s ability to run the flagship APO program, which involves certification of environmental-friendly productivity specialists who can apply effective and efficient concepts, tools, techniques, and methods to improve environmental-friendly productivity,” said Ida Fauziyah.

The APO-GPS 201 certification encompasses levels of certification, competency prerequisites and requirements, domain expertise in GP, GP specialist expertise, job suitability expertise, professional ethics, and certification processes.

This provides a more systematic approach in line with international standards for GP specialists and serves as a standard guide for the National Productivity Organization (NPO) to operate as an accredited Certification Body (CB) from the APO to build a collection of certified GP experts as needed by member countries.

Ida Fauziyah explained that the existence of the Professional Certification Agency for Productivity (PCAP) GP as an internationally accredited APO CB is very helpful for Indonesia to accelerate Green Jobs National in developing the Green Economy. Therefore, Indonesia can become a showcase for Green Jobs for ASEAN.

“Green economy will open up huge employment opportunities because by 2030 there will be 4.4 million new jobs in new and renewable energy sectors (electric vehicles, land processing, and waste processing),” she added.
