10th World Water Forum in Bali

As the 10th World Water Forum approaches, set to be held in Bali from May 18 to 25, 2024, Indonesia gears up to play a pivotal role in shaping global water policies. This forum marks a significant opportunity for Indonesia to influence the course of action in water-related matters on the international stage. With three distinct missions in mind, Indonesia is poised to make its mark on the global water agenda.

Endra S Atmawidjaja, Vice Chairman of the National Secretariat Committee for the 10th World Water Forum and Advisor to the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) for Technology, Industry, and Environment, emphasized the importance of Indonesia’s missions for the upcoming forum in Bali.

“Our three missions include establishing a Center of Excellence on Water and Climate Resilience, promoting integrated water management in small islands, and advocating for the observance of World Lake Days,” said Atmawidjaja during a press briefing on Thursday (4/25/2024).

Atmawidjaja highlighted the significance of the 10th World Water Forum for Indonesia’s influence on global water policies.

“Indonesia has consistently advocated for water issues to be addressed at the highest levels of global discourse. It is imperative for policymakers to prioritize these discussions,” he stressed.

The 10th World Water Forum will feature three main processes: political, regional, and thematic. These processes will engage stakeholders ranging from heads of state and ministers to local leaders, scholars, researchers, and youth representatives, facilitating an exchange of ideas and solutions.

With 230 thematic forum sessions, 55 side events, and 10 special sessions planned, the forum promises to be a comprehensive platform for addressing water-related challenges.

In addition to government officials, heads of international organizations, and ministerial-level representatives responsible for water resource management have been invited to participate in the forum.

The forum will kick off with a traditional Balinese Water Purification Ceremony, followed by the Opening Ceremony and High-Level Meeting at the Bali International Convention Center (BICC) in Nusa Dua on May 20, 2024.

Subsequent activities include interface meetings with key stakeholders, bilateral discussions with heads of state, and the Fair and Expo, spread across various locations including the Bali Nusa Dua Convention Center (BNDCC) and Kuta Beach.

The High-Level Meeting and Ministerial Meeting are scheduled for May 20-21, 2024, followed by a Cultural Night (Farewell) at Taman Bhagawan on May 24, 2024.

The forum will conclude on May 25, 2024, with participants invited to explore Bali’s cultural and natural attractions, including the Water Museum in Tabanan, the Jatiluwih UNESCO World Heritage Site, Lake Batur Kintamani, and the Ubud Cultural Village.
