Java-Bali PPKM Ends Today, Will It Be Extended or Not?

The Policy for the Implementation of Restrictions on Community Activities (PPKM) in Java and Bali, which had previously been extended several times, ends today, Monday (24/1/22). The government has not yet decided whether the Java-Bali PPKM will stop or will be extended.

For information, PPKM Java-Bali starts from January 18 to 24, 2022. As for outside Java-Bali, PPKM will end on January 30, 2022.

Due to the trend of the Covid-19 virus exposure in Indonesia, PPKM is likely to be resumed. This can not be separated because the number of transmission of this virus is getting higher. Moreover, the Omicron variant is increasingly spreading in society.

Seeing this situation, the government may continue the Java-Bali PPKM which since last year has been the government’s mainstay policy to control the transmission of the Covid-19 virus in Indonesia. It is even estimated that the government will further tighten the mobility of the people.

The cumulative virus data

The official report of the Covid-19 Task Force on Sunday (23/1) explained that an additional 2,925 positive cases were bringing the total to 4,286,378 Covid-19 cases in Indonesia. Furthermore, the number of recovered patients increased by 712 people to 4,123,267 people.

Meanwhile, the number of people who died from Covid-19 increased by 14 people to 144,220 people. Then, the number of active Covid-19 cases reached 18,891 cases, an increase of 2,199 cases compared to the previous day.

The increase in positive cases of the new Omicron variant also occurred in Indonesia, cumulatively there were 1,161 cases of Covid-19 Omicron detected. 821 cases of this number came from Foreign Travel Actors (PPLN), 282 cases of local transmission, and the rest of the infection origin is unknown.

Seeing the increasing trend of virus exposure, the Java-Bali PPKM may continue so that the transmission of the virus and its new variants does not expand drastically.

Keep the health protocols by always complying with health protocols, wearing masks, maintaining distance, using hand sanitizers, and also washing hands.
