46 % Jobs in Indonesia Experience Salary Increase, IT Expert Becomes the Highest

Several employment sectors in Indonesia provide wage increases for their workers. It is calculated that 46.3% of jobs in Indonesia experienced an increase, 18.9% experienced a decrease in salary, and 18.9% of jobs did not experience a change in salary.

Based on a JobStreet report, 37 industries in Indonesia experienced a salary increase of more than 40% (year-on-year/yoy) in the first quarter of 2021.

This percentage is higher than in Malaysia, Thailand, and Hong Kong. In detail, there are 46.3% of jobs in Indonesia experienced a salary increase.

A total of 18.9% of jobs did not experience a change in salary. Meanwhile, 34.8% of jobs experienced a decrease in salary.

Based on job vacancies posted on JobStreet, the banking and finance industries experienced the most salary increases. The proportion is 52% of the total job advertisements in the industry.

The second position is occupied by the insurance industry with a percentage of 50%. Then, there are 49% of jobs in the mining industry experienced a salary increase.

On the other hand, the oil and gas industry experienced the most salary cuts based on job advertisements in the first quarter of 2022-third quarter of 2021.

It is recorded that 40% of jobs in the industry have reduced salaries. Manufacturing and industrial equipment, materials, as well as marketing and advertising industries also saw major salary declines.

The percentages are both 38%. Meanwhile, salaries in the computer/information technology (IT) and telecommunications industries are the highest.

The average salary for C-level management is Rp. 40 million per month.

The average salary for computer/IT industry workers at the supervisor level is IDR 10.2 million per month. At the initial level, the average salary of workers in the industry is IDR 5 million per month.

Salaries in the telecommunications industry are also quite large. The average income of level C management-level workers in the telecommunications industry is IDR 40 million per month.

At the manager level, the average salary for telecommunications industry workers is Rp. 14.75 million per month. The average salary for supervisor-level workers in the industry is Rp. 8 million per month.

Then, the average salary of workers at the junior executive level in the telecommunications industry is Rp. 5.75 million. Meanwhile, the average salary of telecommunications industry workers at the initial level is Rp. 4.25 million per month.
