Siti Nadia Tarmizi, Spokesperson for Covid-19 Vaccination of the Ministry of Health, explained that the latest PCR tariff rules will take effect from August 17, 2021. Her party added that this rule sets an upper limit on the tariff for RT-PCR test examinations.

The decision was issued in response to President Joko Widodo’s request regarding a decrease in the price of PCR tests that went viral a few days ago.

President Joko Widodo asked the Ministry of Health to lower the price of PCR tests in the range of IDR 450,000 to IDR 550,000.

The PCR examination by health service facilities and other examiners is set as follows:

  • The highest tariff limit applies to people who carry out examinations at their own request or independently.
  • The policy does not apply to contact tracing activities or referrals for Covid-19 cases to hospitals whose operations receive RT-PCR examination assistance from the government or part of the patient financing guarantee.

Quoted from the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia website, PCR tests in Indonesia are the second cheapest among Southeast Asian countries, after Vietnam.
