Latest Revision of Regulations Regarding Foreign Tourists Entering Indonesia: Government Adds One Gate

After previously issuing rules regarding the entrance of tourist routes to Indonesia, now the Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) is revising the rules regarding the entrance of foreign tourists through Circular Letter or SE Number 12/2022 concerning Instructions for Implementing Overseas Travel by Air Transportation during the Covid-19 Pandemic Period.

“What we need to emphasize is that tourist travelers can enter through the airport gates, namely Soekarno-Hatta, Ngurah Rai in Bali, Hang Nadim Batam, and Haji Fisabilillah in Tanjung Pinang. So there are 4 airports that serve as international arrivals for tourists,” said the spokesperson for the Ministry of Transportation, Adita Irawati, Tuesday (7/2/2022).

Aditia said that Circular Number 12/2022 is needed so that it can be a reference for airport operators, airlines, and other stakeholders, in the context of operations for handling Overseas Travelers (PPLN).

All matters relating to travel requirements in the Circular Letter fully refer to the Circular of the Covid-19 Handling Task Force Number 4/2022. These requirements include PCR tests that are valid for 2×24 hours, complete dose vaccination, and others.

In the previous policy, which was recorded in Circular Letter No. 11/2022, it was stated that the restriction on entry points for Indonesian citizens and foreign citizens of PPLN with tourist destinations could only go through 3 entrances, namely I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport (Bali), Hang Airport Nadim (Batam), and Raja Haji Fisabilillah Airport (Tanjung Pinang)

With the issuance of this revision, foreign travelers for tourism purposes can now go through Soekarno-Hatta Airport. This, according to Adita, is a confirmation of information so that there will be no more confusion.

What’s more, the Ministry of Transportation supervises the implementation with a joint airport task force team consisting of the TNI/Polri, the Port Health Office, airport authorities, immigration authorities, airline operators, and passengers to break the chain of transmission from migrants or PPLN.
