Lionel Messi broke a new record after successfully bringing his country to win the 2022 FIFA World Cup. Messi’s new record is being the owner of the most likes in one post on Instagram. This number even surpassed Cristiano Ronaldo’s posts.
Messi uploaded a series of photos in one carousel on the @leomessi account. A total of 10 photos show a victory celebration at the 2022 World Cup. One of them is a photo of Messi lifting the 2022 World Cup trophy while smiling broadly.
The photo managed to get the most likes in the world on the Instagram platform. The BBC page reports Messi getting 65 million (now 71 million) likes after several hours of posting his upload. That number is still increasing, quoted on Thursday (22/12/2022).

Previously, an Egg photo held the record, which is currently around 58 million. Chris Godfrey’s humble Instagram post appears to be some sort of celebrity protest in hopes of beating the previous record held by celebrity Kylie Jenner.
The number of likes that Messi got also surpassed the uploads of another football star, Christiano Ronaldo. He uploaded a photo of himself with Messi playing chess on November 20, 2022.
The photo uploaded on the @cristiano account is viral in cyberspace. Even had time to get a lot of likes which recorded more than 42 million likes.
