Malaysia’s Covid-19 Cases Latest Death Records-Emergency Ends Soon

Covid-19 cases in Malaysia continued to records daily. Even so, the Malaysian authorities said they wouldn’t extend the emergency period and strict lockdown that the community had been going through for months.

Malaysia is known to have reached high daily cases for three consecutive days to 17 thousand cases. Even the other country has just recorded more than 1 million Covid-19 cases on Sunday, July 25, 2021.

Death record in Malaysia due to Covid-19

Malaysia has set a new record related to the Covid-19 pandemic. The daily death toll hit a record high of 207, bringing the national death toll to 8,201.

Meanwhile, 14,516 new daily cases were reported, which decreased below the previous day’s record of 17,045 cases. With these figures, the total Covid-19 cases in Malaysia reached 1,027,954 on Monday, July 26, 2021.

“There are 1,009 (Covid-19) patients in the intensive care unit, with 524 patients now requiring respiratory assistance,” Malaysia’s Ministry of Health said.

Covid-19 gets worse, the emergency period was not extended

Malaysian authorities say they won’t extend the determination of the national emergency period related to the Covid-19 pandemic. Thus the National emergency period will end on August 1.

As reported by Reuters, Monday (July 26, 2021), Malaysia has been under emergency rules since last January. At that time, Prime Minister (PM) Muhyiddin Yassin argued that determination was purposeful to control the Coronavirus.

But his critics denounced the move and accused PM Muhyiddin of trying to hold on to power during a slim majority in parliament.

Despite the state of emergency and strict lockdown, the Covid-19 pandemic in Malaysia has worsened, which inclined public anger.

Takiyuddin Hassan, Malaysia’s Minister of Legal Affairs, said that the government wouldn’t ask the King of Malaysia or Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah to extend the state of emergency.

Malaysia is a constitutional monarchy, which the King of Malaysia has a ceremonial role, carrying out his duties on the advice of the PM and his cabinet. But the King of Malaysia also can decide if a state of emergency should be declared.
