Minister of Internal Affairs Issues Technical Rules for Extending PPKM from 3 to August 9, 2021

Technical Rules for Extending PPKM

Tito Karnavian, Minister of Internal Affairs (Mendagri), has pressed three Instructions from the Minister of Internal Affairs (Inmendagri) to become the basis in implementing regulations for restrictions on community activities (PPKM) level 1-4 which was extended again in 3 to August 9, 2021.

Inmendagri was signed on Monday (July 2, 2021) and was officially circulated on Monday night. The Director-General of Regional Administration of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (Kemendagri) Syafrizal ZA conveyed the details of the three Inmendagri that had been published.

First, Minister of Internal Affairs Number 27 of 2021 concerning the Implementation of Restrictions on Community Activities at Level 4, Level 3, and Level 2 Covid-19 in the Java and Bali Regions. This Inmendagri Number 27 contains technical provisions regarding the implementation of PPKM level 4, level 3, and level 2 for the Java and Bali regions. It also explains which areas in Java and Bali apply the PPKM level 4, level 3, and level 2.

Second, policies Minister of Internal Affairs Number 28 of 2021 concerning the Implementation of Level 4 Covid-19 Community Activity Restrictions in Sumatra, Kalimantan, Sulawesi Regions, Nusa Tenggara, Maluku and Papua. Inmendagri number 28 regulates the provisions for implementing PPKM level 4 technically for the regions of Sumatra, Kalimantan, Sulawesi, Nusa Tenggara, Maluku and Papua.

In addition, it also mentions that the districts/cities on the six islands are undergoing PPKM level 4.

Third, Inmendagri Number 29 concerning the Enforcement of Restrictions on Community Activities at Level 3, Level 2, and Level 1 and Optimizing the Covid-19 Handling Command Post at the Village and Sub-District Levels to control the Covid-19’s spread. This Inmendagri contains technical rules for implementing PPKM level 1, level 2, and level 3 and explains which districts/cities are the targets of these activities.

Previously, President Joko Widodo officially announced the PPKM levels 1-4’s extension for Java, Bali, and other areas outside the two islands. Previously, PPKM levels 1-4 had been implemented from July 26, 2021, to August 2, 2021.

“PPKM level 4 which was implemented from July 26 to August 2 has brought improvements on a national scale compared to before. Both daily case confirmation, active case rates, recovery rate, and BOR percentage,” said Jokowi in a virtual press conference via the Presidential Secretariat’s YouTube Channel, Monday night.

“By considering several case indicators this week the government has decided to continue PPKM level 4 from August 3 to 9, 2021 in certain regencies/cities,” he continued. Jokowi added that technical matters would then be explained by the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment, the Coordinating Minister for the Economy, and other relevant ministers.

“Although there have been improvements, the Covid-19 cases are still very dynamic and fluctuating. We must continue to be vigilant in making various efforts to control this Covid-19 case,” he added.
