The government will remove classes 1,2 and 3 from the National Health Insurance (JKN) program, administered by the BPJS Kesehatan (Healthcare and Social Security Agency). These all will change to standard classes. Then, what about the tariffs in 2023? Check the following explanation.

Fortunately, the applied fees are still the same as before. PPS Head of Public Relations of BPJS Health Arif Budiman said the contributions are still following Presidential Regulation Number 64 of 2020 concerning the Second Amendment to Presidential Regulation Number 64 of 2020 concerning the Second Amendment to Presidential Regulation Number 82 of 2018 concerning Health Insurance of BPJS.

The presidential regulation explains that contributions are determined based on the type of participation of each participant in the JKN program.

Arif said, for the poor and unable to afford who are registered as PBI Participants, the contribution is Rp. 42,000 is paid by the Central Government with Regional Government contributions according to the fiscal strength of each region.

Furthermore, for PPU Participants (Wage Receiving Workers) or formal workers both state officials such as ASN, TNI, POLRI, and private workers, the contribution rate is 5% of wages, with details of 4% paid by the employer and 1% by the worker. For the calculation of contributions, a lower limit is also applied, namely the district/city minimum wage and an upper limit of IDR 12 million.

“So the calculation of contributions from a person’s income only applies to the type of PPU membership, formal workers who receive regular wages from their employers,” he added.

Finally, for groups of informal sector participants who do not have a steady income, they are grouped as PBPU (non-paid workers) and BP (non-worker) participants.

For PBPU and BP membership types, participants can choose the amount of contribution as desired. Class 1 of Rp. 150,000 per person per month, class 2 Rp. 100,000 per person per month and class 3 Rp. 35,000 per person per month.

Especially for PBPU class 3, actually received assistance from the government in the amount of Rp. 7,000 per person per month, so the total is actually Rp. 42,000.

“So someone who does not have an income or no longer has an income, he can choose to become a PBPU participant with a choice of class 1, 2, or 3. Or if he falls into the category of the poor and can’t afford those recorded in the Integrated Social Welfare Data (DTKS), he can join the group. PBI participants whose contributions are paid by the government” explained Arif.
