Bali is in full swing! This follows the peak of G20 Indonesia which will be held on 15-16 November 2022 in Nusa Dua, Bali. The Bali government has also imposed restrictions on regular flights at Ngurah Rai Airport.

The G20 summit will be attended by delegates from various member countries. In addition to the delegates, this event is believed to also attract local and foreign tourists to come to Bali.

Therefore, to keep the G20 event conducive, there are restrictions on flight operations at the airport for regular flights ahead of the event.

However, the government emphasized that flight operations at Bali’s I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport will remain fully operational 24 hours before the G20 Presidential Summit.

Regular flight restrictions will start from November 13 to 17, 2022. The limitation is to provide space for handling VVIP flights based on regulations, but still ensuring the need for regular flights with a certain or limited number of movements.

Related to this, the government has made a rule, which is written in the Circular Letter (SE) of the Ministry of Transportation Number 12 of 2022 concerning Flight Operational Arrangements during the 2022 G20 Indonesia Presidency Summit at I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport, Bali.

“This circular aims to ensure that the implementation of flight arrangements, from arrival to departure, runs safely, orderly, and smoothly,” explained Acting Director General of Air Transportation of the Ministry of Transportation Nur Isnin Istiartono, Sunday (6/11/2022).

“In addition to minimizing the impact of disruption to flight services during the series of activities of the G20 Presidency of Indonesia,” he continued.

Furthermore, the Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi instructed his staff to ensure the readiness of the flight from/to Ngurah Rai Airport.

Operational arrangements for aircraft during the G20 Summit will be carried out from 12 to 18 November 2022 at Ngurah Rai Airport, with an operational time of 24 hours and commercial flights are prohibited from parking overnight (Remain Over Night / RON).

“People who will travel to and from Bali can adjust their travel plans early so they don’t experience obstacles,” he explained.

The Ministry of Transportation has also established 11 supporting airports in various nearby areas that operate for 24 hours to place VVIP G20 aircraft and their supporters.
