The government has waived the mandatory requirement of the rapid test antigen/RT-PCR for travelers who use the rail mode of transportation. However, some rules must be obeyed by passengers as a condition for boarding the train.
Passengers who are not required to show a PCR or antigen test are only passengers who have been vaccinated against the second (complete) or third (booster) dose. The regulation takes effect from Wednesday (9/3/2022).
The regulation adapts to the issuance of the Ministry of Transportation’s SE Number 25 of 2022 concerning Guidelines for the Implementation of Domestic Travel by Rail Transportation during the Covid-19 Pandemic Period on March 8, 2022.
KAI always follows and complies with all regulations from the government to prevent the spread of Covid-19 on rail transportation modes,” said KAI VP of Public Relations Joni Martinus, Wednesday (9/3).
To validate customer vaccination data, KAI has integrated the KAI ticketing system with the Peduli Protect application. As a result, customer vaccination data can be directly known by KAI at the time of booking tickets through KAI Access, the KAI website, and at boarding.
The rules and conditions that must be obeyed by passengers are:
- Requirements for long-distance train rides:
a. The customer has been vaccinated against Covid-19 at least the 2nd dose.
b. A certificate of negative Rapid Test Antigen results in a maximum of 1×24 hours or RT-PCR 3×24 hours before the scheduled departure is reserved for Customers with the first dose of Covid-19 vaccination and Customers who are not/have not been vaccinated for medical reasons as evidenced by a certificate from a government hospital.
c. Customers under the age of 6 years, the conditions are that they are accompanied by their parents and apply strict health protocols.
- Requirements for local and agglomeration train rides
a. Customers must be vaccinated at least the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine, except for children under 6 years of age.
b. It is not required to show a certificate of negative results from the rt-PCR test or rapid antigen test.
“Customers who do not complete the requirements as well as customers who have been vaccinated but are positive for Covid-19 within the past 14 days, are not allowed to travel and are welcome to cancel their tickets,” said Joni.
Following the Decree of the Ministry of Transportation No. 25, the carrying capacity of long-distance trains is a maximum of 100%. However, customers are still required to comply with health protocols in a disciplined manner when using train services.
Customers are required to wear masks, wash hands with soap in running water, maintain distance, stay away from crowds, reduce mobility, avoid eating together, and use hand sanitizer. Customers must be in good health (not suffering from flu, colds, coughs, loss of smell, diarrhea, and fever), and body temperature not more than 37.3 degrees Celsius.
Customers must wear a 3-ply cloth mask or a medical mask that covers the nose and mouth. Customers are also not allowed to talk one-way or two-way by telephone or in-person throughout the journey.
Then, passengers are not allowed to eat and drink throughout the journey for a journey that is less than two hours, except for individuals who are obliged to take medicine for treatment which if not done can endanger the safety and health of the person.
KAI cooperates with the Ministry of Health, TNI/Polri, and the local Health Service to provide vaccination services for long-distance train customers at various stations and KAI’s Medical Clinics.
Joni ensured that although KAI no longer required antigen/PCR tests as a condition of travel, he and his party would continue to maintain health protocols during the train’s operational period.
“KAI continues to ensure that all customers apply health protocols in a disciplined manner and only allow customers who meet the requirements to be able to board the train,” he concluded.
