Indonesia will soon have the first high-speed train in Southeast Asia. Minister of Transportation (Menhub) Budi Karya Sumadi revealed that the Jakarta – Bandung High-Speed ​​Rail (KCJB) will adopt high technology, namely Grade of Automation (GOA) Level 1.

According to him, with the technology and design, the acceleration or speed of the train can reach 350 km/hour. Later, KCJB will also serve as many as 68 trips per day and stop at five stations.

“The travel time from Jakarta to Bandung only takes 36-45 minutes. Previously it took approximately 2.5 hours to reach the destination,” said the Minister of Transportation in his statement Friday (5/8/2022).

The presence of KJCB as environmentally friendly mass transportation, with a good level of safety and security as well as time efficiency, is expected to increase public interest in using public transportation rather than private vehicles.

“Therefore, I urge the speed of construction time and system integration to be accelerated, so that the benefits that have been waiting for the train users can immediately be felt,” said the Minister of Transportation.

Meanwhile, the series of Electric Multiple Units (EMU) or trains for the Jakarta – Bandung Fast Train (KCJB) project began to be sent from China to Indonesia today.

The government scheduled KCJB to undergone a dynamic test in November 2022 or to coincide with the implementation of the G20 Presidency,

“This project is a form of Indonesia-China friendship which is always discussed in meetings of the two countries. For that, let’s support this KCJB project so that it can run well and sustainably,” he added.

Meanwhile, President Director of the Indonesia-China Fast Train (KCIC) Dwiyana Slamet Riyadi said that the first delivery of the EMU and the Comprehensive Inspection Train (CIT) was the first time the delivery of the fast train EMU from China to other countries.

A total of 11 train carriages produced by CRRC Sifang, Qingdao, Shandong Province, China was completed in early April this year. EMU and CIT which were sent to Indonesia today have completed static and dynamic tests at their production sites.

“Until now, the progress of the KCIC project has reached 85 percent, and there are still some tunnel 2 works, preloading, track laying, and station completion,” concluded Dwiyana.

Furthermore, Chinese President Xi Jinping through representatives of the China Railway company gave his guaranteed the smooth running of the Jakarta-Bandung High-Speed ​​Train (KCJB) project so that it can be completed according to the target.

This was conveyed by China Railway International Co (CRIC) Gao Feng who said that Chinese President Xi Jinping had asked CRIC to guarantee the Jakarta-Bandung high-speed rail project (KCJB) was carried out smoothly.

As is known, so far, CRIC is one of the partners of PT Kereta Cepat Indonesia China (KCIC) in the KCJB development project.

“President Xi Jinping has requested that the KCJB project be carried out as planned,” said Gao Feng at the inaugural delivery of the Jakarta-Bandung high-speed train EMU online, Thursday (5/8/2022).

“We are very serious about cooperation between the two countries,” he said.
