Good News! Whoosh Tickets Can Now Be Rescheduled Up to 15 Minutes After Departure

Whoosh High-Speed Train Sees 500% Surge in Passengers

Running late for your Whoosh train might not be such a problem anymore. Thanks to a new policy from Kereta Cepat Indonesia China (KCIC), passengers now have more time and flexibility to reschedule their trips—without worrying about fees if done under the right conditions.

Previously, rescheduling a Whoosh train ticket had to be done no later than two hours before departure. But under the new rules, KCIC now allows reschedules to be made up to five minutes before departure when booking online, and even up to 15 minutes after departure when done at the station counter.

“This change is part of our effort to provide more convenience and flexibility to passengers, especially for those dealing with sudden changes or delays on their way to the station,” said KCIC Corporate Secretary General Manager Eva Chairunisa.

Online rescheduling can be done via the website ticket.kcic.co.id or the official Whoosh app. Meanwhile, for those opting to change their schedule after the train has departed, it must be done in person at the station counter. Even then, KCIC reminds passengers to queue in an orderly fashion.

Along with the updated reschedule window, KCIC also revised the fee structure. Changing a booking to a different time on the same day is now free of charge. However, switching to a different date will cost 25% of the ticket price.

There’s another detail to note for travelers who’ve already rescheduled once. Any additional changes to the same ticket will incur a 25% fee. In case the new ticket is more expensive than the original, passengers must first pay the full price of the new ticket. The fare from the previous ticket will be refunded within 24 hours. If the new ticket is cheaper, no refund will be provided.

Chairunisa said the update was driven by two major factors. The first is the increasing frequency of Whoosh departures, which now run every 30 minutes. “With more frequent schedules, Whoosh is beginning to resemble a commuter train service, which demands more adaptive and responsive policies,” she explained.

The second reason was passenger demand. “We’ve heard from travelers that they need a simpler, more affordable rescheduling system. This update is a direct response to that feedback,” she added.

For travelers who often find themselves racing the clock, this policy could be a welcome relief—offering a little more breathing room without added costs, and making the high-speed rail experience that much more commuter-friendly.
