Will the Third World War Be Coming Soon?

According to Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, the threat of a third world war is becoming increasingly clear. This is after the Russia vs Ukraine War is still raging and has entered the 62nd day since the start of the invasion at the end of March 2022.

Meanwhile, Head of Railways Oleksander Kamyshin said that currently five train stations in central and western Ukraine had been hit by Russian airstrikes within an hour on Monday and causing an undetermined number of casualties.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said there was a threat of a third world war. The statement is based on the delivery of western weapons to Ukraine, which means that in this conflict the role of the NATO alliance is quite involved.

However, Lavrov also added that peace talks would continue, and also a peace deal with Ukraine would be signed at some point.

A Senior Russian Diplomat has been quoted as saying that a ceasefire in Ukraine would not be a good option as he claims that Kyiv could use it for provocation.

Meanwhile, Dmitry Polyanskiy, Russia’s first permanent representative to the United Nations, said that Ukraine undermined Russia’s efforts to open humanitarian corridors so Russia does not think a ceasefire is a good option now.

Furthermore, from the side of NATO, Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin and US Secretary of State Antony Blinken After visiting Kyiv claim that Russia is currently failing in its war objectives and Ukraine is successfully defending its territory.

Previously the US had pledged US$713 million to support Ukraine and Blinken also added that the US had prepared a strategy in support of Ukraine and would put massive pressure on Russia from across NATO.

This time the world is focusing on the international crimes that occurred in Ukraine. The crime was allegedly committed by Russia when it invaded Ukraine.

The Joint Investigation Team (JIT) has got new members, namely Karim Khan QC and also from the prosecutor’s office of the international criminal court, previously this JIT had members from Lithuania, Poland, and Ukraine. JIT aims for international cooperation in criminal matters under the auspices of Eurojust which is the European Union’s body for criminal justice cooperation.
