Zelensky Will Not Attend Indonesia’s G20 If Putin Comes

High tensions still exist between Russia and Ukraine following the war that has not stopped. As a result, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that he will not attend the G20 summit in Nusa Dua, Bali on November 15-16, 2022, if Russian President Vladimir Putin also comes.

Reporting from NDTV on Friday (11/4/2022), Zelensky told reporters after talks in Kyiv with the Greek president that he had been invited to participate in the summit by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi).

“My position and that of Ukraine is that if the leaders of the Russian Federation take part, then Ukraine will not take part. We’ll see what happens,” he said.

Zelensky said earlier that he had spoken with President Jokowi by telephone and discussed preparations for the G20 summit as well as the Black Sea grain export deal.

Based on recent developments, Putin has several times expressed his desire to come directly to the G20 Bali Summit. However, the Kremlin has not officially confirmed Putin’s presence.

In addition, until now there are still 3 countries, including Russia which has not confirmed their presence in the G20 Presidency. President Jokowi said he would call the three countries.

“There are only 3 G20 left, I will call later to confirm their arrival,” he said in Jakarta, Wednesday (2/11/2022).

Nevertheless, Jokowi assesses the presence of 17 countries to 18 countries that have been confirmed as a big achievement.

The reason is, under normal circumstances before the Covid-19 pandemic, this number was also recorded well.

“Under normal circumstances, the number 17-18 is a lot, meaning that in a very difficult situation, having him come is an honor for us,” he said.
