If you’ve ever wondered when Bali would finally embrace a world-class marina scene, the answer is now. The launch of Bali Gapura Marina’s Dock B marks the beginning of a new chapter in the island’s maritime tourism, one that feels like it’s been a long time coming. The dock has officially opened under partial operations and is already positioned to become the new hub for yacht travelers.
Dock B isn’t just a random addition to the coastline. It’s one of five docks designed for the first phase of the marina’s development. The opening also builds on the momentum that started back in September 2025 during the project’s groundbreaking. Construction began that same month, with teams installing 11 pontoon modules stretching across 192 meters. Each module is engineered to handle a minimum load of 500 kilograms per square meter, giving the dock enough strength to accommodate up to 48 yachts.
According to Muhammad Suriawan Wakan, the Technical Director of Pelabuhan Indonesia (Persero), this milestone says a lot about where Indonesia is heading. He explained that the project highlights Indonesia’s growing potential to stand alongside the world’s top maritime tourism destinations.
“”Bali Gapura Marina is not just an infrastructure project, but a shared commitment to opening new opportunities and raising the standards of Indonesia’s premium maritime tourism services. “The presence of Bali Gapura Marina is expected to spark the birth of other premium marinas in Indonesia and establish Indonesia as a new leading destination in the international maritime tourism world,” he explained.
Every part of the marina’s operations—technology, systems, and safety protocols—follows international standards used by leading marinas around the globe. This includes compliance with the International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) Code, ensuring that both guests and vessels receive top-tier security and service.
Support for this development also comes from PT Pelindo Solusi Logistik (SPSL), Pelindo’s subholding responsible for logistics and hinterland development. SPSL oversees the Development Area I of the Bali Maritime Tourism Hub, where the marina is located. The company’s Commercial and Technical Director, Ruri I. Rachmaputri, highlighted the significance of this moment.

“We are implementing holistic integration in the development of this marina, encompassing a comfortable sailing experience, premium service, and modern infrastructure. This effort aims to bolster Indonesia’s position as a key player in the global maritime tourism industry.,” he said.
Local leaders share the same optimism. Bali Governor Wayan Koster noted that the arrival of Bali Gapura Marina fills a long-standing gap in Bali’s tourism infrastructure. With an international-standard marina now in place, he believes Bali’s tourism quality will continue to rise.
“”What is clear is that the guests who come are quality tourists, so this is very good,” said Koster.
With Dock B now operational and more docks to follow, Bali is stepping confidently into the global maritime tourism spotlight—something the island has been more than ready for.
