Bali continues to shine on the global tourism stage after being crowned the Best Island in Asia by Condé Nast Traveller UK 2025. The award reaffirms the island’s position as one of the world’s top destinations and a symbol of Indonesia’s thriving tourism sector.
Tourism Minister Widiyanti Putri Wardhana welcomed the recognition with pride, describing it as proof of the nation’s strong tourism ecosystem.
“The double achievement of Bali reflects the strength of Indonesia’s growing tourism ecosystem, from the quality of human resources and destination readiness to its commitment to sustainability principles,” she said in Jakarta on Wednesday, October 16.
The prestigious Readers’ Choice Awards 2025 by Condé Nast Traveller (UK) placed Bali at the very top of the “Best Islands in Asia 2025” list. At the same time, Condé Nast Traveler (United States) also named Bali one of the world’s top ten islands. With a score of 89.84, Bali ranked sixth in Asia, standing among other globally renowned destinations such as Phú Quoc in Vietnam, Langkawi in Malaysia, and Boracay in the Philippines.
This is not Bali’s first global accolade. In 2024, the island earned the same title as Asia’s Best Island from Condé Nast Traveller UK with an even higher score of 96.86. It also ranked ninth on the global list by Condé Nast Traveler US with a score of 90.15.
Data from Indonesia’s Central Statistics Agency (BPS) further underscores Bali’s global appeal. Between January and August 2025, international tourist arrivals reached 10.04 million, up 10.38 percent from the same period the previous year. Among these visitors, 1,685,275 came from Europe, far surpassing the 413,236 arrivals from the Americas.

These achievements reflect not only Bali’s timeless charm but also the success of Indonesia’s global tourism branding. The Wonderful Indonesia campaign continues to gain recognition, positioning the country as one of the most trusted and admired tourism brands worldwide. The acknowledgment from two of the most influential travel publications also boosts Indonesia’s reputation as a top-tier travel destination, encouraging more visitors from key international markets.
Looking ahead, the Ministry of Tourism plans to strengthen the foundation of quality tourism through digital innovation, integrated promotion, and cross-sector collaboration. These efforts aim to ensure Indonesia remains a leading global destination while inspiring the future of sustainable tourism worldwide.
The Readers’ Choice Awards itself is one of the most respected honors in global travel. Organized annually by Condé Nast Traveler (US) and Condé Nast Traveller (UK) under the international Condé Nast media group, the awards are based on online surveys involving more than 500,000 readers. Voters share their personal experiences and rate categories such as islands, destinations, hotels, airlines, and cruise lines, making it one of the most credible recognitions in the travel industry.
