DKI Jakarta Governor, Anies Baswedan extended the implementation of Transitional Large-Scale Social Restrictions (PSBB) in DKI Jakarta until December 21.

The decision was made after the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government considered academic studies from BNPB and the Faculty of Public Health, University of Indonesia (FKM UI).

“Based on the assessment from BNPB and FKM UI, we decided to extend the Transitional Period PSBB until December 21, 2020,” Anies said in a written statement, Sunday (6/12).

Anies said BNPB currently places DKI Jakarta as a medium risk area. Meanwhile, FKM UI gave a score of 63 on Covid-19 control in DKI. The score indicates an area may make some easing with notes.

He said that there were indeed a number of notes from the implementation of the previous Transitional PSBB. Anies said there was an increase in the number of positive cases of Covid-19 after the long holiday of the Prophet Muhammad SAW’s birthday.

Anies also noted that there was an increase in family clusters in the capital. The availability of beds in a number of hospitals in DKI has also decreased.

Even so, Anies said there was some good news. For example, a decrease in the effective reproductive rate (Rt) to 1.05. In addition, the positivity rate in DKI decreased to 8.2 percent.

Therefore, Anies said he would make efforts to control Covid-19. He also asked all elements of society to be more disciplined in facing the pandemic.

“We remind you that there is an emergency brake policy if the epidemiological indicators show that the Covid-19 outbreak in DKI Jakarta is getting out of control,” Anies concluded.
