In order to support the G20 Presidency in Indonesia, PT PLN (Persero) West Java Transmission Main Unit (UIT JBB) is rejuvenating several main transmission materials (MTU). This is also done to increase the available electricity supply reliability.

It is estimated that the electricity infrastructure rejuvenation activity will require an investment of Rp 45 billion.

General Manager of PLN UIT JBB Erwin Ansori said that PLN had succeeded in energizing a transformer with a capacity of 60 MVA on Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS) 150 KV Ketapang, which is located in Central Jakarta.

The Rp 15 billion transformers replace an old transformer that is more than 40 years old.

“GIS Ketapang is one of the backbones of Jakarta’s electricity system, directly supplying the ring area of the state palace, besides that, it also supplies several offices, hospitals, and shopping centers in the vicinity,” Erwin said, as quoted from the company’s official statement, Thursday (Thursday). 28/04/2022).

According to Erwin, shortly, two other transformers with the same capacity will be replaced, so the total investment value spent by PLN for this transformer replacement is approximately Rp 45 billion.

This work started on February 22 and was completed on March 25, 2022, starting from the transportation process for transporting the transformer to the installation site.

“PLN officers have worked to the maximum in trying to move and install the transformer weighing more than 100 tons, such as during the transformer delivery process, this work must be done from midnight to early morning to avoid traffic congestion dividing the streets of Jakarta,” he said.

With the rejuvenation of several infrastructures, it will increase the reliability of electricity supply to customers. In addition to facing international events, it is also to meet the demands of Zero Down Time (ZDT) services in the capital city of Jakarta.
