Toll Road Users Significantly Increase, More Crowd!

Vehicles traveling toll roads in Indonesia significantly increase. This shows that people’s mobility has returned to normal as before the pandemic. The Toll Road Regulatory Agency (BPJT) of the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) reported an increase in vehicles using toll roads this year.

In a press statement in Jakarta, Tuesday (7/6/2022), Head of BPJT PUPR Danang Parikesit revealed that until the end of 2021, the number of daily transactions reached 3.59 million. According to him, by 2024, that number will reach 7 million daily transactions on all Indonesia’s toll roads.

“It is targeted that by the end of 2022, the number of daily transactions can reach 4.09 million daily transactions with a daily transaction percentage increase of 13.92%,” said Danang.

Furthermore, Danang explained, that the percentage of class II-V vehicles from 2021 to 2022 has increased by 3.13%.

Meanwhile, at the end of 2021, it has reached 13.75% and is targeted at the end of 2022 to reach 16.88%.

“This will have an impact on increasing transaction volume until the end of 2022 which is projected to reach Rp. 26.532 trillion/year compared to 2021 which is in the range of Rp. 23.757 trillion/year, so it will increase by 17.24%,” said Danang.

Furthermore, the Toll Road Regulatory Agency (BPJT) of the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) targets the total length of operational toll roads at the end of the era of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) and Vice President KH Ma’ruf Amin in 2024 to reach more than 4,761 kilometers.

This target was conveyed by the Head of BPJT PUPR Danang Parikesit in a press statement in Jakarta, Tuesday (7/6/2022).

According to Danang, until June 2022, the total operation of toll roads in Indonesia has reached 2,500 km.

“By being divided into 66 toll roads and 46 toll road business entities (BUJT) in Java, Bali, Sumatra, Kalimantan and Sulawesi islands,” said Danang.

The total segment is the accumulation of toll roads that were completed and operated in the 1978-2014 period of 789 km, the 2015-2019 period of 1,298 km, in 2020 of 246 km, in 2021 of 122 km, and from 2022 to 31 May it reached 42. 98 km.

According to Danang, the realization of toll roads operating from 2021 to the end of 2022 is 164.98 km long with a percentage increase of 18.59%. It is targeted that by the end of 2022 the operating toll road will reach 2,955 km.
