The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) has completed the construction of the Seruni Point Glass Bridge in the Bromo-Tenger-Semeru National Tourism Strategic Areas (KSPN), East Java.

To test the performance and security of the bridge, the Ministry of PUPR conducted a loading test (loading test) on the seruni point (prototype) glass bridge. This trial provides a guarantee of safety and safety for tourists after being operated later.

The presence of this glass bridge is an adrenaline tourist destination that connects the Seruni Point Tourism Terminal with the shuttle area with views of Mount Bromo, Mount Batok, and Mount Semeru. Thus this bridge is expected to increase tourist visits to KSPN Bromo-Tengger-Semeru.

PUPR Minister Basuki Hadimuljono said infrastructure development in each KSPN was planned in an integrated manner, both the arrangement of the area, roads, provision of raw water and clean water, waste management, sanitation, and repair of population occupancy through an infrastructure development master plan.

“The Seruni Point glass bridge stretches along 120 meters above a cliff with a depth of about 80 meters. Furthermore, the Head of the Tunnel and Structure Geotechnical Center (BGTS) of the Ministry of PUPR Fahmi ALDIAMARA said the loading test on the Seruni Point glass bridge was carried out using several instruments to obtain structural performance data and steel wire on a 1.8 meter-based bridge and 3 meters.

One of the instruments used is Total Station (TS) to measure displacement or shift in measuring points when the bridge is passed by the human load.

Fahmi stressed that there was no official information related to the time of the inauguration and operation of the Seruni Point Glass Suspension Bridge. The inauguration, he said, was waiting for further information from the Ministry of PUPR.

“As at this time the glass bridge has undergone the processes determined by the Ministry of PUPR,” he said.
