Ahead of the Christmas and New Year Holidays, Hotel Occupancy Rates Increase

Book a hotel Immediately if you don’t want to run out of hotel stock! This is because hotel occupancy rates in several regions of Indonesia increase ahead of the Christmas and New Year holidays.

The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) noted that star-class hotel occupancy in Indonesia in October 2022 reached 52.31% or an increase of 6.69 points compared to occupancy in October 2021. If hotel occupancy in October 2022 compared to the previous month, there was an increase of 2 .29 points.

Several provinces that experienced quite high increases in occupancy were in the Special Region of Yogyakarta by 8.9 points, South Kalimantan by 7.37 points, and Central Sulawesi by 7.16 points. Meanwhile, West Kalimantan only experienced an increase of 0.12 points.

Deputy for Distribution and Services Statistics at BPS Setianto explained that the increase in hotel occupancy rates was partly because many local governments were holding meetings. There are also many national activity agendas.

“Some events have been held, such as the Wayang Yogya Night in Yogyakarta, the National MTQ (Musabaqah Tilawatil Quran) in Kalimantan, and other events that affect hotel room occupancy rates,” Setianto explained in a press conference, Thursday (1/12/2022).

Meanwhile, the average length of stay for star-class hotel guests during October 2022 was recorded at 1.66 days, up 0.02 points compared to conditions in October 2021 and September 2022.

Riau Archipelago recorded the highest occupancy with 41.27%, followed by DKI Jakarta at 40.3% and Lampung at 30.29%. Meanwhile, the lowest occupancy was recorded in the Bangka Belitung Islands at 16.02%.

In detail, the occupancy rate of hotel rooms according to star and non-star classification in Indonesia in October 2022 is:

  • Star 1 reaches 33.77%
  • Star 2 reaches 47.68%
  • 3 stars reach 52.6%
  • 4 stars reach 56.81%
  • 5 stars reach 55.35%
  • The non-star TPK is 24.41%.
