The world’s largest automotive aftermarket trade fair brand, Automechanika, is officially coming to Indonesia in 2026. Jakarta will host the international exhibition from September 24 to 27 at the newly built Nusantara International Convention Exhibition (NICE) in PIK2. The event will span 15,000 square meters and feature 350 exhibitors.

For Messe Frankfurt, the organizer, this marks a significant step in expanding Automechanika’s presence from its German roots into Southeast Asia. The company had previously tested the Indonesian market with Asiabike Jakarta in 2023. According to Stephan Buurma, Member of the Board of Management of Messe Frankfurt Group, Indonesia’s automotive potential, particularly in the component supply chain, is a major draw.

“The shift of investment into manufacturing and logistics highlights Indonesia’s important role in the global supply chain. Messe Frankfurt’s presence in Southeast Asia continues to grow as we support the development of new trade routes in this region. Automechanika Jakarta is an important addition to the company’s Mobility & Logistics portfolio,” Buurma said in an official statement on Wednesday (Sept 17).

To make the Jakarta edition possible, Messe Frankfurt partnered with the Association of Automotive and Motorcycle Industries (GIAMM). The two organizations signed a cooperation agreement in the presence of Indonesia’s Ministry of Industry, Ministry of Cooperatives and Small and Medium Enterprises, and Ministry of Trade.

GIAMM Chairman Hamdhani Dzulkarnaen Salim expressed confidence that Indonesia is the right place to host Automechanika. “Sharing Messe Frankfurt’s vision, we aim to drive the growth of the local industry through this event by introducing domestic companies to best practices and extensive networks,” he stated.

Automechanika Jakarta 2026 will cover the entire automotive supply chain. Exhibitors will represent sectors such as spare parts and components, electrical and electronic systems, accessories and customization, diagnostics and repair, digital services, tires and wheels, body and paint, motorcycles, as well as automotive manufacturing and automation.

Automechanika has a long history as a B2B exhibition. The first edition was held in 1971 in Germany, stepping in after the cancellation of the International Motor Show (IAA). Since then, it has been organized every two years and has expanded well beyond its German origins.

The global footprint of Automechanika continues to grow. In the past year alone, editions were staged in Malaysia, Ho Chi Minh City, Shanghai, Istanbul, Mexico City, Tashkent, Dubai, and Johannesburg. Now, Indonesia is set to join the list, reflecting its rising position in the regional and global automotive landscape.
