Indonesia’s investment realization achievement increased by 7.0 percent compared to the previous period. The Ministry of Investment/BKPM reported that investment realization reached IDR 302.2 trillion in the second quarter of 2022 compared to the previous, IDR 282.4 trillion.

If detailed further, the realization of foreign investment (PMA) in the second quarter of 2022 reached Rp163.2 trillion, growing 39.2 percent YoY. Meanwhile, the realization of domestic investment (PMDN) reached Rp. 139.0 trillion, or grew 30.8 percent YoY.

Then for the distribution, investment outside Java Island was again superior to Java in the second quarter of 2022 with a contribution of IDR 157.1 trillion or 52.0 percent of total investment, an increase of 38.0 percent from the same period in the previous year.

By looking at Indonesia’s current economic performance and the growth in investment realization, Bahlil said that his party was still optimistic that the investment target was directed by President Joko Widodo of Rp. 1,200 trillion could be achieved.

This of course can be achieved with cooperation between the central government, local governments, and investors.

Furthermore, the Ministry of Investment/Investment Coordination Agency (BKPM) publishes investment realization data for the period April-June or quarter II-2022. Based on BKPM data, Singapore is the country with the largest total investment in Indonesia.

In the second quarter of 2022, Singapore’s investment realization in Indonesia reached US$ 3.1 billion. However, the Minister of Investment/Head of BKPM Bahlil Lahadalia has doubts about the source of Singapore’s investment funds.

“I’m not sure this is Singapore’s money. This is Singapore, maybe most of it is Indonesian money,” said Bahlil at the Investment Ministry/BKPM, Wednesday (20/7/2022).

According to Bahlil, Singapore’s achievements exceed its total investment in 2021. Bahlil also admitted that he was surprised because, in 2021, Singapore’s highest investment realization reached US$ 5 billion.
