Catching the Jakarta-Bandung Whoosh high-speed train just got easier. Passengers no longer need to print physical tickets, as entry to the station can now be done by simply scanning a QR code to ride Whoosh. This system is especially helpful for travelers who arrive at the station in a rush.

The QR code is automatically issued after payment and sent to the buyer’s email. It can also be found directly in the Whoosh High-Speed Train app under the ticket menu. With this feature, boarding becomes faster and more efficient.

To use the QR code at the station, passengers are advised to prepare it before joining the queue. Place the code against the scanner at the gate leading to the platform. Once the gate light turns green and opens, passengers can walk through and head straight to their designated platform.

However, passengers can only choose one form of ticket to access the gate. They must either use the QR code or print a physical ticket at the departure station. Both cannot be used interchangeably.

“Only one can be used. Once printed, the QR is no longer valid,” explained PT KCIC Corporate Communications Manager, Emir Monti, as quoted by Kompas on Thursday, September 18, 2025.

Flexibility is also provided for ticket cancellations and changes. For bookings made through the Whoosh app or the official site ticket.kcic.co.id, adjustments can be done online. Purchases made via vending machines, ticket counters, or partner channels, however, must be handled offline at stations such as Halim, Karawang, Padalarang, and Tegalluar Summarecon. In those cases, passengers are required to fill out a form.

According to KCIC’s official website, cancellations can be requested up to two hours before departure. Online rescheduling is allowed up to five minutes before the train leaves, while offline requests can be made up to 15 minutes after departure.

There are specific rules regarding fees. A cancellation will deduct 25 percent from the ticket price. Rescheduling to the same date is free, but changing to a different date incurs a 25 percent fee. Tickets that have already been rescheduled will also face a 25 percent deduction if changed again. Refunds may take up to 15 days to process, though rescheduling refunds can be completed as quickly as 24 hours. All refunds are transferred via bank.

If a passenger cannot be present, they must provide a stamped power of attorney worth Rp 10,000 along with a copy of the grantor’s ID to the proxy. This document is required for cancellations or rescheduling on the passenger’s behalf.

With this new system of using QR code to ride Whoosh, traveling on the high-speed train is designed to be more practical, flexible, and passenger-friendly.
