Sea Ship Passengers Soar 293 Percent Ahead of Eid

On D-4 Eid 2022 or Friday (29/4), the Ministry of Transportation stated that all modes of public transportation experienced a surge. However, the highest spike occurred in sea transportation.

Based on data from the 2022 Integrated Lebaran Transport Post as of Thursday (28/4), the realization of the passengers number was 78,963 passengers or an increase of 293.6 percent compared to a normal day of around 20,064 passengers.

A spokesperson for the Ministry of Transportation Adita Irawati said that the trend of the number of passenger movements in all modes of transportation was monitored from Monday 25 April 2022 (D-7) to Thursday 28 April (D-4).

On D-7 the movement was 527,094 passengers, H-6 was 563,033 passengers, D-5 was 682,899 passengers, and yesterday D-4 was 806,257 passengers.

“This data is still temporary and it is predicted that at the peak of going home (April 28 to April 30) the number will continue to increase,” Adita said at a press conference, Friday (29/4).

Monitoring the movement of travelers for Eid 2022 is carried out at 111 bus terminals, 16 ferry ports, 51 airports, 110 seaports, and 13 Daop/Divre.

Following are the details of the temporary data on passenger movement in each mode of transportation on Thursday (28/4), compared to the usual Saturday (16/4):

• In road transportation (bus transportation), the realization of the number of passengers on D-4 in 2022 is 142,391 passengers, or an increase of 126.9 percent when compared to a normal day of 62,760 passengers.

• In rail transportation, the realization of the number of passengers on D-4 2022 was 109,341 passengers, or an increase of 126 percent when compared to a normal day of 48,372 passengers.

• In air transportation, the realization of the number of passengers on D-4 2022 was 207,700 passengers or an increase of 97.6 percent compared to normal days of 105,101 passengers.

• On sea transportation, the realization of the number of passengers on D-4 2022 was 78,963 passengers, or an increase of 293.6 percent when compared to a normal day of 20,064 passengers.

• In ferry transportation, the realization of the number of passengers on D-4 2022 was 267,862 passengers, or an increase of 382.4 percent when compared to a normal day of 55,525 passengers.

“On D-4 yesterday, the movement of passengers in all modes increased very significantly. Especially in the crossing mode of transportation, it reached 382.41%,” Adita explained.

The total movement of passengers in all modes of transportation (D-7 to D-4) has reached 2,579,283 passengers. This number is still smaller with a comparison of 43.3 percent when compared to the cumulative passenger movement in the same period in 2019 of 4,551,686 passengers.
