People are enthusiastic about using the train during the 2023 lunar year holiday which coincides with the long weekend. Around 88 thousand train tickets in the Jakarta Operational Area have been sold for scheduled departures on 20 – 23 January 2023.

Of these, 35,600 are tickets for Gambir Station departure and 52,400 tickets for Pasar Senen Station.

This was conveyed by the Indonesian Railways Operational Area (daop) 1 Jakarta. They revealed that the long weekend and Lunar Year Holiday had caused the volume of Long Distance Train (KAJJ) departures from Gambir and Pasarsenen Stations to increase by up to 20 percent.

This number is likely to gradually increase because ticket sales from KAI are still continuing until now. KAI Public Relations noted that there are 57 to 60 long-distance trains operating from Operational Area 1 Jakarta every day.

Based on data submitted by KAI Daop 1 Public Relations, Eva Chairunnisa, the highest number of passengers occurred on Friday (20/1) with 30,500 passengers on 58 operating trains.

In detail, 12,300 is the volume of passengers departing from Gambir Station with 29 train operational services and around 18,200 other passenger volumes departing from Pasar Senen Station with 29 train services.

Furthermore, KAI also detailed some of the highest destination areas during the Chinese New Year holiday, namely Yogyakarta, Semarang, Purwokerto, Solo, Tegal, Kutoarjo, Surabaya, and Malang. As for the short-distance trains, namely Cirebon and Bandung.

A large number of passengers does not necessarily make KAI careless in enforcing health protocols. KAI Daop 1 Jakarta reminds all service users to pay attention to the latest vaccine regulations currently in effect.

Passengers who wish to use long-distance trains are required to have booster vaccines.

Furthermore, Eva reminded that people can order tickets 30 days before the day of departure so that passengers can prepare their travel plans carefully in advance.
