The Whoosh high-speed train station in Karawang will soon begin serving passengers on December 24, 2024. This move is aimed at improving travel options during the Christmas and New Year holiday season, offering a more efficient solution for residents in Karawang and nearby areas.
Eva Chairunnisa, General Manager Corporate Secretary of KCIC, highlighted the importance of this development. “The preparation process for opening Karawang Station was directly reviewed by the Vice President, who strongly supports this initiative. The launch of Whoosh Karawang Station will provide broader accessibility, allowing the public to experience fast and comfortable travel,” she stated in a press release on Saturday, December 21, 2024.
Although the station had been operational since October 2023 to facilitate train operations, it will officially begin serving passengers later this month. This new service promises unprecedented travel times, with the Halim-Karawang route taking just 15 minutes—a stark contrast to the one-hour journey by car. Meanwhile, the Karawang-Padalarang route will be completed in just 20 minutes, compared to up to two hours by road.
To ensure smooth operations from day one, the station will initially support 20 train schedules daily. These include 10 departures from Whoosh Halim Station and 10 from Whoosh Tegalluar Summarecon or Padalarang Station.
“The opening of Whoosh Karawang Station on December 24, 2024, is KCIC’s effort to introduce this new service to the public. The station’s launch is being carried out in stages to ensure that all operational and service aspects run optimally,” Eva added.

KCIC is currently finalizing the ticketing system for this expanded route. Passengers are advised to wait for official announcements regarding ticket sales and travel schedules for routes to and from Karawang Station. The company is committed to delivering top-notch services, emphasizing infrastructure readiness, seamless multimodal integration, and passenger comfort.
Interestingly, KCIC has streamlined the boarding and alighting process, allocating just two minutes for passengers at Karawang Station. Travelers are encouraged to prepare as trains approach and follow announcements promptly.
While the new stop will add a modest seven minutes to the overall travel time of Whoosh services, the benefits far outweigh the additional duration. With its unmatched speed and convenience, Whoosh continues to set a new benchmark for modern travel in Indonesia.
