When someone ask about which city has the most expensive cost of living in Indonesia, some people might answer big cities like Jakarta or maybe remote areas like Papua. Is that right?
Actually, cheap or high cost of living in a city is caused by many factors. But the most important factor is the condition of the city.
The size of the city with the highest cost of living can be identified in two ways, namely the consumer price index (CPI) and per capita expenditure.
The per capita expenditure data can be seen from the results of the cost of living survey conducted by the Central Statistics Agency (BPS).
This survey is conducted every five years and is based on the calculation of per capita expenditure, not based on the high and low prices of goods or services.

- Jakarta
The first position in the list of cities with the most expensive cost of living in Indonesia is Jakarta.
