KAI Commuter is introducing significant changes to improve the airport train service, reducing the travel time from Manggarai Station to Soekarno-Hatta Airport from 56 minutes to just 40 minutes. This ambitious goal reflects the company’s commitment to providing faster and more efficient transportation options for air travelers.
To make this happen, KAI Commuter is focusing on upgrading infrastructure and enhancing passenger services, with BNI City Station playing a strategic role in the plan. As part of this optimization, BNI City Station is already well-integrated with multiple transportation modes, such as Transjakarta, LRT, MRT, and JakLingko.
“This initiative addresses the persistent issue of road congestion leading to the airport. By leveraging the integrated transport network at BNI City Station, passengers can save valuable time and ensure timely arrival at the airport,” explained Joni Martinus, VP of Corporate Communication at KAI Commuter.

In 2024 alone, approximately 1.5 million passengers relied on the Basoetta Commuter Line (airport train) for their airport commute. With these planned enhancements, KAI Commuter expects a 20% increase in passenger usage, aligning with the growing number of air travelers at Soekarno-Hatta Airport.
One of the key elements of this project involves integrating the operations of Karet Station with BNI City Station. This coordination, currently under discussion with various stakeholders, aims to streamline the network and further reduce travel times.
“BNI City Station already serves an average of 2,408 passengers daily, equivalent to 100 passengers per hour. With a maximum capacity to handle 2,000 passengers per hour, the station is well-equipped to accommodate increased demand,” Joni added.
Through these initiatives, KAI Commuter is positioning the Basoetta Commuter Line as a reliable and time-saving alternative for reaching the airport, offering travelers a seamless and stress-free journey.
